As a certified professional card reader, I use oracle cards to help people to explore answers to tricky career, family, and relationship situations, as they navigate through life.
As a shamanic practitioner or shamanist, I help people to find their true path. Oracle and tarot cards are divination tools. They may help you to discover what’s happening on your life’s journey at this moment. They show you “the big picture”. Through the cards, helping spirits offer wisdom and advice. They give glimpses of what’s ahead to help you to choose the right path for you.
The cards plant seeds for personal growth. You have the power of choice – an opportunity to use free will – to take action. You are able to focus on the truths that helping spirits reveal. With this information, you can move forward in a thoughtful way.
How does it work?
The cards convey messages from helping spirits to the person who requests the reading. Helping spirits use the cards to construct a story of where we are now. They show us what we need to know to move ahead and potential outcomes. The story may be simple or complex. That depends on the number of cards in the reading and intricacy of the card layout (spread).
Dreams, visions, and shamanic journeys are messages that speak to our conscious minds in the language of symbols and metaphors. Oracle and tarot cards convey messages in a similar way. They carry beautiful images and symbols that resonate with our inner self. They help to build a bridge between the Spirit World and ordinary reality. Interpreting cards may help us to understand messages from the Spirit World. If we choose, we can apply this knowledge and advice in daily life.
This framework is similar to how I work with other shamanic divination tools. That includes “reading” crystals or rocks and journeying to non-ordinary reality to seek answers to a question.
To prepare for readings, I clear and bless the cards. I open a sacred space where I will conduct readings. As my next step, I clear my mind and become “a hollow bone”. I invite my helping spirits to work through me. Relying on their wisdom and guidance, I choose and intuitively interpret the cards. I thank them for revealing the messages that you need to know and the truth you need to hear.
Certified Card Reader
I began to read cards in high school as a way to meet people (we moved a lot). It helped me and to cross the barriers of high-school cliques and personal insecurities (mine and others) – part of any teen’s experience. I have read cards as an amateur over the intervening years.
To help people on their journeys through life, I decided to up my card-reading skills to a more professional level. I became a certified professional card reader by completing a highly acclaimed Hay House course. First of all, I studied seven learning modules. Of note, each was comprised of more than 40 individual lessons. Along with detailed worksheets and handouts, the course contained a series of powerful mediations and guided journeys and two 1.5-hour live webinars.
Six card-reading experts taught and mentored students: Colette Baron-Reid, Kyle Gray, Radleigh Valentine, Denise Linn, Sharon Anne Klingler, and Sandra Anne Taylor.
Each expert has more than 25 years of card-reading experience. Some are pioneers in the development of oracle and angel cards. Others combine card reading with personal coaching for a well-rounded approach to personal growth.
The lessons covered the fundamentals of divination. They conducted deep explorations of oracle and tarot decks and developed and honed my card-reading skills. They advised how to coach people to ask the right questions. I learned more about how to read basic and advanced card spreads. They taught me how to use multiple decks in a reading.
Finally, to qualify for certification, I conducted 44 card readings of more than 10 different people. And I passed a rigorous certification examination.

A basic card reading of 1 to 5 cards usually takes about 15 minutes. An advanced reading of 7 to 9 cards take a half hour. Twenty-one card readings, 45 minutes or slightly longer.
